No magic wand required! Here’s how to achieve a natural, lit-from-within glow while you catch those zzz’s 😉
Glowing skin? Hell yes! Efforts every day? No, thank you.
It’s not just about looking good, but also about feeling great from within. However, with the busy schedules that we have, it can be tough to squeeze in time for an elaborate skincare routine every night. But you can still get gorgeous skin by making a few overnight changes to your routine.
So here are 12 ips to make your skin glow overnight like never before! Wheather its a date, important meeting, impromptu wedding or just a little self-care session, you know you’ll be glowing like a goddess tomorrow!
Remember, these are the things I swear by and have tried and tested not once, twice or thrice but thousands of times. So you can trust me on that.
How to get glowing skin overnight
1. Oil-cleanse before face wash
Okay, let’s start with something basically no one creates hypes about. Have you heard about oil cleansing? It’s a game-changer for getting rid of all the gunk (I stress upon ALL) on your face, even the stuff your fancy face wash can’t handle.
So if you want to make your skin GLOW overnight, oil cleansing is the secret! Just take your trusty oil and work it into your skin for at least 15-20 minutes, then rinse it off with a cleanser.
Now, I know what you’re thinking – won’t this make my already oily skin worse? Trust me, if you choose the right oils for your skin type, you’ll be glowing like a goddess. I’ve tried tons of oils on my oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin, so I’ve got your back.
My absolute favorites are Jojoba oil, Avocado oil, Sunflower seed oil, Coconut oil, and Olive oil.
Sure, Olive and coconut oils aren’t my top picks, but I’ve used them plenty of times and haven’t had a single acne breakout. Just be cautious if you have a big day tomorrow and only today to prep!
Btw, this video is great for reference.
2. Gently exfoliate your skin
For an overnight glow, use gentle chemical exfoliants like alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA). These work to gently dissolve dead cells on the skin’s surface, unclogging pores and smoothing fine lines.
I keep The Ordinary’s chemical peel close to my heart. It’s super affordable, insanely effective and your one-stop solution to glowing skin.
If your skin is on the sensitive side, Dr. Dennis’ ultra gentle peel is here to save the day. It’s equally effective as The Ordinary’s peel, but with a LOT gentler touch.
3. Ditch toner for rosewater or green tea
Forget about those toners that are neither exfoliating nor hydrating! Seriously, they’re just a myth I refuse to fall for. But here’s the real deal: replace your toner with Rosewater. Why? Because this stuff is like magic for your skin.
It’s got these soothing properties that balance out your skin’s oil levels, and it keeps annoying blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, and dryness far, far away.
So how do you use it? Easy! Either pour some Rosewater onto a cotton pad and give your face a gentle cleanse, or spritz it all over like a refreshing mist.
Another cool option is my absolute favorite – Green tea! Packed with antioxidants, it shields your skin from damage and fights inflammation. Not only that, it’s got tannis to give you a natural facelift.
Whip up your own green tea toner by brewing a strong batch, letting it cool, then gently patting it onto your face with a cotton pad. Let it work its magic for just five minutes before slathering on your favorite night moisturizer.
If you don’t have either of them, you can always go back to a gentle, exfoliating toner, like Pixi’s glow tonic or The Ordinary’s glycolic acid toner.
4. glowing masks to the rescue
Of course, how can we get glowing skin overnight without a beautiful, relaxing face mask?! Whether you prefer a leave-on mask or a wash-off one, there’s a mask out there for your skin’s every need.
If you’re dealing with oily, acne-prone skin and those pesky blackheads, dark spots, and blemishes, you need a powerful treatment to kick acne’s butt. And let me tell you, the Aztec Indian healing clay mask is a superstar. It’s affordable, it’s effective, and it’s become my skin’s BFF.
But if you’ve got normal to dry skin and don’t have to deal with acne, listen up. This Superberry’s night mask is something you absolutely need in your life! Packed with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants, this little wonder will hydrate, plump, brighten and give you the glowing skin of your dreams.
5. Use the right serum afterwards
You can turbocharge the benefits by adding the perfect serum into the mix.
Once you’ve pampered your skin with a luxurious mask, it’s time to choose a serum that aligns with your skincare goals. If silky-smooth, moisturized skin is what you’re after, look for a serum with hyaluronic acid. It’s a hydration powerhouse that also fights those pesky signs of aging.
And I’ve got another secret weapon for you – peptides. These bad boys are the superheroes of anti-aging ingredients. Using a serum packed with peptides will kickstart collagen and elastin production, giving you a smoother, wrinkle-free complexion. Hello, younger-looking you!
6. moisturizer is a game-changer!
Want to wake up with radiant skin? A killer moisturizer is the secret sauce. It’s like a magical potion, especially if you’re into clay masks or battling dry skin.
But here’s the real trick: don’t just slap it on and call it a day. Take your time and give your face some love. Massage that moisturiser and let the magic happen. The slow and steady approach helps boost blood circulation, leaving you with the supple, healthy glow you’ve been dreaming of.
Now here’s the scoop: the Neutrogena hydro boost one is my absolute go-to. I’ve been hooked for years and can’t recommend it enough. Trust me, you’ll thank me later when you see the amazing results.
7. drink enough water (For gods’ sake!)
Guys, who said glowing skin is a long shot? It’s simple: water, water, water! Water is essential for good skin health, and this applies to overnight skincare too. Hydration is the key to achieving glowing skin as it plumps up the cells and leaves the face looking smooth and dewy.
So, sip on H2O or some delicious herbal tea all day long to keep yourself hydrated. And when it’s time to hit the hay, why not try a humidifier in your room? That way, you can wake up with plump, smooth, and dewy skin.
8. avoid salty foods, AT ALL COSTS
How many times have you heard it before? A million would be less. But with the foodie’s stomach, I just cannot control that, hehe.
BUT if you want to look fresh and fabulous for those special occasions (and cute dates), lay off the salty snacks for 48 hours beforehand, as they can make your face and eyes look puffy the next morning.
9. have a good night’s sleep
A solid 8 hours of beauty sleep, a killer skincare routine before hitting the hay, and a healthy diet is everything you gotta do to make your skin glow overnight!
And why not? While you snooze, your body gets to work repairing itself. And when you’re well-rested, it definitely shows on your gorgeous face. No stress-induced breakouts and dull skin, whatsoever!
10. Change your pillow covers!
Did you know that your pillows could be sabotaging your skin? Yep, all that dirt and bacteria from your face and hair can build up on your pillowcases and wreak havoc on your complexion. Breakouts and dull, lifeless skin? No thanks!
So in an ideal world, you should change those pillowcases every couple of days and choose ones made of natural fabrics like cotton. That way, you’ll prevent irritation and let your skin breathe while you sleep peacefully.
But for making your skin glow overnight, you can change them today and start reaping the benefits!
11. Switch to silk
Another unique tip for getting glowing skin is by using silk pillowcases. Not only are they gorgeously smooth and soft, but they also protect your precious skin from irritation and inflammation.
That means saying goodbye to annoying redness and hello to a fresh, radiant complexion.
Oh, and did i mention they work wonders on those pesky fine lines and wrinkles? It’s time to sleep your way to stunning skin with silk pillowcases!
12. Bonus tip: cool it down with ice!
Psst! Here’s a super cool bonus tip just for you! You don’t have to lift a finger until you wake up, my friend.
Picture this: you roll out of bed, and BOOM! There’s a pesky zit, some dark circles, or a bit of puffiness on that flawless face of yours.
Reach for an ice cube and give your beautiful face a little massage. Then, rinse it off with some chilly water.
This secret? It comes straight from the celebs, so you KNOW it works like magic. Don’t waste another second – go grab that ice and let your fab self shine!
