Ever find yourself scrolling through Instagram, wondering how everyone else seems to have it all together? 🤔 I used to feel like that all the time—always tired, stressed, and never quite satisfied with how I looked or felt. Always searching for something—anything—to shake things up.

But believe it or not, sometimes you don’t need life-changing tweaks to make a life-changing shift. Because these things that seemed almost too simple to work for me, actually ended up transforming the way I see myself and the world around me.

Curious? Stick around because I’m about to share the 12 ridiculously simple things that completely changed the game for me. Trust me, you’ll want to try these out! 😊

Ready to feel amazing without breaking a sweat? Let’s get into it!

1. Drinking an Adequate Amount of Water

12 Stupid Simple Things That Changed the Way I Look (No Crazy Diets or Intense Workouts Required)

I know, I KNOW – you’ve heard it enough times already, but YOU REALLY NEED TO START DOING IT AS WELL.

Babe, it is a freakin’ game changer, and I cannot count how. It not only keeps you hydrated, stress-free, and headaches-free but also helps clear up your skin like magic, making it look more radiant and youthful.

Plus, your stomach issues will be gone, your energy levels will be high, and I am not exaggerating when I say everything will work out just fine, lol.

Now I aim to drink 8-12 glasses of water in a day, and if you’re struggling to touch this goal, jot down these tips to stay hydrated and no need to thank me 😉

2. Getting Regular Chemical Peels

It sure does sound scary but my goodness it works like magic! I was of course hesitant at first, because we’re talking about CHEMICALS on your SKIN. But my dermatologist literally kinda begged me to try them, lol.

I started off with The Ordinary’s chemical peel at home (a GREAT product, by the way), and after using it for 5-6 months, I gave these esthetician-recommended peels a try. After about 4-5 sessions, you’ll not even recognize yourself, tbh.

These peels basically exfoliate the top layer of your skin, revealing a smoother and more even complexion, free of acne, spots, texture, and any other skin irregularities. All in one godsend treatment!

3. Exercising, Even if It’s Just a Small Dance Routine

I know, this might sound daunting and too much of a work for many of you but if you can just hear me out for a second?

I am a lazy hog. And this is not my cup of tea either. And I had to cry myself out of bed to go to the gym for 3-4 months straight, but now it actually does feel kinda good. I enjoy the workout, the productivity boost after, and the gains, of course (talking about my ass here, hehe).

And if you still cannot make yourself go to a gym, start with at-home dance workouts. They’re so easy, super fun and will just get your blood pumping and improve your mood. Of course, a toned-up body will be just a bonus!

Pick your favorite playlist, dance like nobody’s watching, and enjoy the endorphin boost! Or search dance workouts on youtube and enjoy yourself some!

4. Raising the Quality of My Sleep

Sleep is the ultimate beauty secret. I’ve made it a point to prioritize quality sleep (quality being the keyword here) by creating a relaxing bedtime routine.

Dim the lights, put your phone on ‘Do Not Disturb,’ and maybe even indulge in a little aromatherapy. Also, invest in a good mattress and comfortable bedding—it makes a world of difference. Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep and watch your skin glow.

I won’t say much about this because I literally have a whole post on it, so refer to these ways of creating a relaxing bedroom sanctuary and things you can do to wake up fresher and radiant!

5. Wardrobe Overhaul by My Boyfriend

I know, no one knows you and your style better than you. But I think, this can get monotonous really quickly and you end up buying almost the same styles and colors and have outfits that more or less look the same.

Which is why getting someone really close to you do a wardrobe overhaul for you can do owners. And a fun date idea as well! 😉

Declutter and get rid of outdated pieces you have worn a hundred times, and add fun colors or styles that you won’t usually go for and see how you like it. Sometimes, an outsider’s perspective can help you see yourself in a new light.

6. Including 3-5 Short Breaks in Between My Work

Burnout is real, folks. Taking short breaks during my workday has helped me stay refreshed and productive. I use these breaks to stretch, take a quick walk, or even meditate for a few minutes. I have a whole list of 5-minute self-care ideas you can use in your breakies!

It’s amazing how just a few minutes away from your screen or your regular duties can make you feel rejuvenated. Plus, it helps reduce eye strain and keeps your posture in check.

Start meal prepping, have set days for your house chores like Saturday for grocery shopping, Thursday evenings for laundry, and so on, and schedule your kid’s activities in a way that you can get a short break to yourself in between.

7. Reserving Weekends for Spa and At-Home Self-Care

For the longest time, weekends used to be for catching up on my chores and bill payments and I still do that. But I also make sure that I schedule out at least an hour or two for my personal self-care sessions.

Think bubble baths, wine & cooking, face masks, luxurious skincare along with a little yoga and some meditation. Of course, all of this makes my skin glow like the sun and healthy skin automatically means healthy aura.

I know, I know, you’d be like how do I get so much time for myself in between all the other things? Okay, first of all, if you cannot give yourself an hour out of 168 hours that you get in a week, what are you even doing?

Secondly, sometimes, when days are super duper busy, I do all my house chores and grocery shopping on Saturdays and keep Sundays for me.

8. Styling My Clothes in Better Ways

12 Stupid Simple Things That Changed the Way I Look (No Crazy Diets or Intense Workouts Required)

I used to think I needed a whole new wardrobe to look stylish. Turns out, it’s all about how you style what you already own. I used to throw on whatever was at the top of my drawer (I guess we all dress like that).

But a little effort in styling goes a long way. I started mixing and matching pieces I never thought would go together—like that old denim jacket with a floral dress.

Lemme give you a few style tips now –

  • Never have more than 3 colors in an outfit, excluding neutrals like white and black.
  • Try to match all your accessories. Like a black belt with black shoes, a black bag with black sunnies.
  • Go deep in finding what styles suit your body and type and what are your seasonal colors. It’ll not only help you shop better but also create a wardrobe for you that actually looks good.
  • Always balance proportions. As in, if you’re wearing loose bottoms, go for tight or snug tops and vice versa.
  • Create uniform outfits that you can quickly pick when you’re in a hurry. For instance, t-shirts with maxi skirts or cute co-ord sets.

9. Keeping My Hair Healthy and Bouncy

12 Stupid Simple Things That Changed the Way I Look (No Crazy Diets or Intense Workouts Required)

Your hair is your crowning glory, and keeping it healthy makes a world of difference. You can go out anytime confidently (even without makeup) when you know your hair is gonna work on everything else!

  • I ditched the daily heat styling and started using hella nourishing hair masks once a week (That viral Karsell one is too damn good, and this shea butter one has changed the game for good).
  • I also switched to silk pillowcases and started using a wide-tooth comb and a detangler.
  • I also changed my shampoo and conditioner and switched to Redken and they’re such a great Olaplex dupe, I swear!
  • And the last thing i added to my haircare regime is regular head massages because I read somewhere that your hair issues start when you start developing knots in your head (they’re under the skin of course) and pressing them not only releases stress and tension but also you’ll start seeing improvements in hair texture and quality.

Now, my hair is not just bouncy but also so soft and shiny. It’s like having a good hair day every day!

10. Doing My Own Nails

12 Stupid Simple Things That Changed the Way I Look (No Crazy Diets or Intense Workouts Required)

There’s something incredibly satisfying about having well-groomed nails. And once you start getting them regularly, there really is no going back!

But with inflation so high, affording a new set every 2 weeks is a bit too much to ask for. Which is why I started doing my own nails. I started learning through Youtube tutorials and after about 3-5 sets, I was already a pro at them

Get a DIY nail kit from Amazon, and you’re good for your life. I only do Gel-x nails though because they’re easier than acrylics. Trust me, it has become a little therapeutic ritual for me.

11. Speaking Affirmations & Keeping a Journal

12 Stupid Simple Things That Changed the Way I Look (No Crazy Diets or Intense Workouts Required)

Beauty isn’t just skin-deep; it’s about feeling good inside out. And lately, affirmations have brought out my hidden confidence like no other.

As soon as I wake up, I thank god for everything, big or small, he has blessed me with. We all have SO much more than we have asked for, right? Plus, it shifts your focus from what’s wrong to what’s right.

Then I get myself a glass of warm water and start speaking affirmations into it in a way that my water can absorb the positivity (and it really does. You’d know if you know anything about manifesting 😉 and drink it. You can speak them into water, your food, your coffee or whatever it is that you have first thing in the morning.

I set the tone for the day, whatever it is – good health, shit tons of money, amazing career opportunities that I grab, beauty or just a happier me.

In the evening or before going to sleep, I make sure that I write something in my journal. Not everyday, but every other day for sure. I try to reflect on my day, jot down my stupid, nonsense and sometimes clever thoughts, and set goals for myself. It’s like therapy but cheaper!

12. Smiling More & Trying to Be Genuine About It

12 Stupid Simple Things That Changed the Way I Look (No Crazy Diets or Intense Workouts Required)

Nothing lights up your face quite like a genuine smile. I’ve made a conscious effort to smile more, not those forced, awkward smiles, but genuine ones, and it’s made me—and those around me—feel so much better.

It really is the simplest, most effective beauty secret out there. Just let it out. If you’re greeting someone, do it with a big, broad smile. Smile at people you eye contact with. Pass meaningful compliments to strangers. Laugh at a silly joke. Spoil yourself with your favorite salad or donut.

And if you cannot push it out to strangers, just practise smiling in the mirror. Or if you’re feeling down, think of something that makes you happy and see an instant smile pop up.
